This project is a collaborative effort between Studio Walling and Atelier Nuri, and is our winning entry for the international competition organized by Archdais, centered around the theme “The House: Interiors - Crafting Home through Space.” A unique home nestled in Dzukou Valley, away from the bustle of modern life, offering peace and serenity. Tired of city living, we dreamed of a place surrounded by nature, where we could grow our own food and live in harmony.
This project is for an upcoming bridge design proposal, conceptualizing the idea of using local sustainable local materials such as bamboo (treated) as our primary construction material for the bridge construction. Taking inspiration from the Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Meghalaya, we wanted to design an organic structure that was grown from the two ends and bridge it.
The bridge structure is inspired by a traditional bamboo cane seat used by the local tribes of Northeast India, known as the Morah.
The Morung, once the heart of Naga society, where young minds were shaped and tribal values passed down, is being reborn. The Pan-Naga Morung, nestled amidst the rice paddies of Khonoma village, now stands as a vibrant academy that merges tradition with modern learning. The architecture honors the past while embracing the future, blending the diverse traditions of every Naga tribe into a harmonious whole.
